General Purpose Jet Probe Inspection

A jet probe inspection system mimics immersion techniques by transmitting a sound wave from a transducer along a column of water and into the component. Use of a jet system removes problems associated with the buoyancy of composite components and avoids the risk of water ingress into the component.
Jet probe systems are generally used in through transmission (pitch/catch) mode with signals exiting the component along a secondary water column for collection and evaluation by a secondary transducer. The general purpose style of system uses two axes of movement to carry out a raster scan inspection across the area of a component.
Standard systems are available in 1000mm x 1000mm and 2000mm x 2000mm sizes with two axes of movement to capture a simple c-scan. For larger and more complex systems please see the Complex Systems section of this site.

Scan shapes can be easily programmed using simple wizards, any scan parameters can be stored and recalled by the operator using the given scan shape name. This allows a customer to carry out the inspection of multiple components of a similar shape.

Systems are supplied with the latest Midas NDT integrated ultrasonics package. The latest state-of-the-art package offering unparalleled capabilities under full control from the computer monitor.
Four amplitude and one time of flight (thickness) gate are available to the operator with all the necessary facilities for the most exacting scanning operations. All ultrasonic parameters are digital and can be stored as part of a pre-programmed scan pattern. This removes the need for complex setting of ultrasonics prior to routine daily inspection processes.
