| Midas-NDT engineers have carried out an upgrade to an ultrasonic pipe inspection system in Scotland. The system was originally manufactured by Ultrasonoscope in approximately 1970 for the inspection of large forged pipes. | |

The system was fitted with a new six probe scanning head with four shear-wave probes and two longitudinal probes that automatically locate to the diameter of the pipe. The scanning head was interfaced to an Olympus Omniscan iX flaw detector that is capable of monitoring all six probes whilst a helical scan of the pipe is carried out. |
