| Midas-NDT have received orders, from two separate companies, for the inspection of a large quantity of composite coupons. Composite coupons are manufactured and individually impacted at different forces to identify the effect of impact on aerospace structures. |

| As can be seen in the illustrations above, the surface of the coupon shows no evidence of damage from the impact. The c-scan image as well as showing the general structure of the component shows major damage in the impacted area (ringed in red on the component picture). This is a phenomenon known as BVID (Barely Visible Impact Damage) and it is key to component design to understand the affects of differing forces of impact on the internal structure of components. |
